Default Why do you think people pirate stuff?

Hey why do you guys here think people pirate stuff?

Is it because it is cheap? Price of a DVD + DVD Player /Memory Card and a DVD Player with memory card slot?

Is it because it is easy to access? Just using google

Reliability? Bet you haven't heard that before. but it is actually more reliable then going into a god damn shop!!!

what are you reasons?

I feel you claret, she might not come back home, lmao!!!! j/k

sharing is good in moderation if that makes sense to ya. not to over do it, like burning every second of every day. I believe one should also show support. cause these people have to make/produce these things in order for us to get our hands on them someway somehow.

What if the artists/movie producers just decided to stop producing moveis and/or music for a while, what would we download????

software, I think I doubt I will ever purchase, the price of that is wayyyyyyyy to ridiculous

I'd have to say price and availability are my main reasons for downloading as for uploading, it just makes me feel good to give something to someone that they otherwise may not have had.

i believe we should support the creators of an item, but when a shop makes you not want to its bit difficult when your money is already spent (ie gift cards :O)...

its just annoying... mainly its conviences, global release, and its cheap!

I think its real real good for when your trying to get your hands on those hard to find items like a really old movie or an album that got discontinued in stores. I believe thats whe npirating shines, cause you wouldn't get them otherwise unless you searched for a while online and payed some ridiculous amount

That's why I like being a member of a community, I don't do software or games but my music (quite old obviously) and films (any and all minus porn) are shared. My retail DVD collection is substantial and they are all good films. I know this because I viewed them before buying them. I am glad I have so many shared films because they have saved me from buying garbage and getting so frustrated that I stopped buying them entirely. Remember, all movies go free on TV eventually or for a small fee on HBO/Showtime etc, and in my day we just VHS'd the Hell out of them and then dubbed them and gave them to our friends. I saw nothing wrong then and still do not now. Share the world. I find it amazing anyone defends the amount of money made/lost by entertainers. CD's should be free so you go to the concerts, that's where they make the real money. CD's are for their labels, often substandard versions of their live tune. Silly.

I agree with Jerry about Music and the movies...But sharing software allows someone to try the full version before they buy it. Someone should buy fully licensed copies of software if they use it for commercial or monetary gain. Otherwise, the vendors don't make enough ROI to continue developing additional features or supplying bug fixes. All of the software that I use on a commercial basis is fully licensed. I have downloaded the XP packs that don't require registration only out of convenience to me, I still have the all important paperwork which entitles me to use XP, which in the end, is all that matters.

The thing is for me:

1. Even though we buy the music/film/software we don't actually own it. We have only paid to use it. What a load of bollox.

2. I'm sure that all the film stars and the music producers/artists will work for £5.52 per hour for there art!!

3. Everything keeps getting more expensive because the people who produce what we want, think we should pay more for it so they can have nice cars, houses and stupid fu**ing medalions with there names encrusted in diamonds.

I say stuff the lot of them. I own original dvd's, cd's and software it shold be upto me to with it as i see fit once i purchase it and not the producer of it.

Wow, good question.

I pirated because I was in an awful spot. I live my life by an old fashion "barn raising" mind set. I run a non profit org for exchanging homesteading goods and services. I have given over $2,000 dollars to getting it underway this last year, and uncountable hours of time. My computer crashed, and I had to get it fixed. When I got it back my most critical program was not working. I was broke, and I needed it to pay my bills, and this program was how I make my meger living.

I feel/felt gulity about doing it but was desprate. I am also terriably lysdexic so learning what I needed to learn just to get this one program was very hard. I read by flash recognition, so new words are a major stumper. With out the help of the people here, I would have been in a world of hurt.

It seems that from my artistic, self sufficient, homesteading world, I have found the same sort of people in the intimidating techno world. Kind'a of symmetric, ha?
