Default Firefox 3 - anyone tried it out?

Has anyone given it a test drive yet?

I had a quick go, but too many of my extensions were disabled and my FF 2 mods (userChrome.css) made it look funny. So I think I need a fresh profile along with the install to give it a fair test run.

Code:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0b5/releasenotes/
Some of the things I didn't like were the fat black triangles they put near everything that even hinted at having a dropdown menu (I'm gonna have to get rid of some of those and make the rest smaller). Otherwise I think it'll probably be fine.

But it brags about speed increases, better performance & better memory management. Has anyone found this to be true...or false?

If it is faster out of the box than FF2 how does it compare once you've installed a few extensions?

Sorry Fynstee, I am not gonna try it out until it is out of beta and into final release...even then, I will not be an early adopter.

I'll wait until Bill gates is using it ...............just kidding.
Ahhhh..... beta's are just to much trouble for a tool that I use all day long. When it's proven itself I will have a go at it, but no earlier.

I've been using it for the past hr or two and it seems fine.

Took a while to fix the look of it back to the way I like, but it's not so hard if you use Stylish. A must have extension if you want to safely remodel the look and feel of FF itself & any websites you visit.

Extensions updated well, just a few that didn't & they could be manually edited to work by changing the maxversion number of the install.rdf.

As to speed, it feels faster, but I don't see a great difference in page loading so far. But the scrolling back and forth is MUCH better than on FF 2, much snappier, at least for me.

I think there might be truth to the better memory handling too.

The real test will be to see if the SB still jumps for anyone with this version

Yea the only extension that didnt work for me was the avg free 8.0 webpage scanner i think thats what it is??? But other than that its a lot faster when you first open the browser but no difference in page loading. I mean i like it....looks more "streamlined" as far as the back, forward, reload, etc.. buttons and url space.

Thumbs up Like it first go

Just got it, installed it and works fine so far. Sure, my F2 installation wasn't exactly loaded with extensions and plugins, so that may be the reason why it looks good to me .. specially the real page zoom (as opposed to text-only enlargement) is nice.
I can really do without the old VEOH plugin that I anyways hadn't used in weeks. This maybe updated as and when experience grows.
