I'm using ktorrent on my torrent box. I can regulate how many slots for uploading. The default is 3. Which do you think is better, to have a very small about (and possible faster upload speed, but people will be waiting in line to dl) OR have a lot of uploading slots (but have much slower upload speed and it will take considerably much longer to upload to someone)? Talk about a massive run-on sentence!

I find it is better to quickly complete seeding on torrents so that there are other seeders in case you have to jump off of it and seed something else. Your choice though.

I find it best to seed as much as I can to whoever I can, I make no limits on uploads. I pause files when there are enough seeders to continue without me, but since that is rare, I generally leave all of mine seeding full, and my seed number is fairly substantial.

I usually only use 3 upload slots per torrent which I've found is usually enough for on here most of the time (just keep an eye on it and do more if you need to and can).

wish I had your bandwidth

My bandwidth is very uneven. I've seen downloads hit as high as 2.4 MB/s (in middle of night sometimes) but my upload is 250KB/s (haven't seen it go much higher than that).

I have 20 slots per torrent configured, 4Mbps Global Cap, unless there are no downloads, then it is raised to 6.6Mbs. Using uTorrent, you can override the Global settings on a per torrent basis, which I have done from time to time.

I set everything unlimited in utorrent(openslots and speed) and i leave everything seeding, but i only upload 2/3 things at a time depending on the size, and wait until someone completes to upload something else like plush says it's better to quickly complete than have torrents uploading at slow speeds IMO anyways, but its up to you

hey...can anyone educate me, in how u seed, because i download my torrent and the uploading never start even after the download is completed. and my computer is still running for about six hours at this minute i am typing this message.

you are probably seeding perfectly fine brunlea. It just seems to me that there is no one trying to download the torrent.

As soon as someone starts to download it you should start uploading

If you have downloaded over 2GB and your ratio has dropped below 0.50 you will not be able to download.

Solutions

1) Leave a completed torrent in your client until you have uploaded enough data to bring your ratio up to 0.75
2) Upload a torrent of your own and seed until your ratio is 0.75 or higher.
3) Donate to the site and gain Premium membership
