The title says it all really, I just wondered (in your experience) what is the best download manager / accelerator that is compatible with rapidshare.
I am currently using Flashget and am pretty happy with the speed but sometimes the files corrupt and with a rar file it will not extract, does anyone else have this problem? Is there anything that's better and if so what? Thanks in advance!

I use RapGet. I think it's the best.
Speeds are always far better than just downloading in a browser.

Why can't I download? - "leeching forbidden you are only allowed to seed" If you have downloaded over 2GB and your ratio has dropped below 0.50 you will not be able to download. Solutions 1) Leave a completed torrent in your client until you have uploaded enough data to bring your ratio up to 0.75 2) Upload a torrent of your own and seed until your ratio is 0.75 or higher. 3) Donate to the site and gain Premium membership Please let me know if my torrent or links are dead

While you're on a rapidshare spree I'd like to recommend a couple of handy firefox extensions too.
One is called RSFind. Just a single button in your statusbar, when you click it a pop-up appears containing all the RS links harvested from that page. Very handy for links that are anchored, like in someone's RS folder. You can set things up in it's options to find links other than just RS ones if you like. Next there is a greasemonkey script for Firefox which I've been using for a good while now and which works really well. (some greasemonkey scripts do so much that they can slow down browsing and are best avoided, this one seems OK and light-weight... plus it's easy to turn off greasemonkey when not using it) First install Greasmonkey, then load the script posted below. Now when you are checking if a Rapidshare link is alive or dead simply press SHIFT+R If link is alive a + symbol appears and it is now a clickable link If link is dead a ? symbol appears symbol appears (may not actually be dead, in a few cases it could be server down causing it not to work) Greasemonkey:- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748 The userscript:- http://userscripts.org/scripts/source/13709.user.js More info:- RS_LinkCheck – Userscripts.org Screenshot of working links shown after pressing Shift+R:- ![]()

I use flashget version 1.8.1.1002. It is an older version but i have never had trouble with it. I really do not like the newer versions. I have been using rapidshare manager to upload but haven't used it to download yet.

I have used RapidShare Manager and managed to get pretty good speeds out of it, but the number of simultaneous downloads or uploads is capped at 5 and you also can't edit the speeds to add custom values for yourself. Finally, it requires that you allow it to download and update itself on every launch...a potential security risk.
If you can find a better solution as suggested above, I would use them instead.

With flashget I just download 1 file at a time and never have any problems and it doesn't take much longer (if at all) than downloading multiple files simultaneously, which is where you run into the corrupt files, which I find more of a Windows data processing flaw than a Flashget one.

I've used Orbit downloader for around 6 months without any problems. It's very similar to FlashGet but, for me, less buggy.
