Using a Download Manager with RapidShare Premium
For the past couple of years I've either used the old Rapidget (when the rapidshare.de site was king) or a freeware alternative called
RapGet.
RapGet has been my preferred download manager for RS.com links ever since I found out about it. It's makers update it regularly so that it's always current & compatible with about 80 different file hosting sites. To run it with rapidshare all you have to do is make sure your PC has the MS OpenSSL libraries installed (1mb worth of stuff - which is available on the RapGet d/load page). Once that's installed you just need to start RapGet and give it your username and password as shown below:-
(
Settings > Servers > Rapidshare.com)
From that point on it will download any RS.com links you throw at it to the folder of your choice.
But many people already have a preferred download manager....
and in many cases these other download managers have not been
specifically designed to work with file hosting sites like rapidshare. Instead it's more of an ability that has been tagged on during their development. People can sometimes even encounter problems with tried and tested DM's like FlashGet. Often download managers will say they have downloaded the rapidshare file... only to have actually downloaded a 5kb HTML file.
Others will download the first set of rapidshare links you give to them just as they should, but will fail to properly download any further links that you had queued to follow. One way to get around the 5kb file-error, if it's happening to you, is to enable direct downloads in your rapidshare account.
How to enable Direct Downloads:-
1. Log in to your
RapidShare Premium Zone.
2. Click on the
Options button circled below:-
3. Enable “
Direct-downloads” by checking the checkbox and save it by clicking the Save button.
After you’ve enabled direct-downloads, the file will immediately start downloading whenever you click a rapidshare link or enter any rapidshare download links in your browsers addressbar. (so long as you are logged in to rs.com with cookies enabled)
The same goes for any download manager you like to use, if it has the ability to store your RS.com password it
should now be able to properly download any RS links you feed into it.
