Default How to Create a Torrent and Thread with Azureus

1) find the file or directory you want to upload on your HDD. and
remember where it is for future reference.

2) open azureus and click the create new torrent button, this will open up a small window

3)in said window there are several otions, most of which you need
not be concerned. there are two however that you need to edit.
The first is the tracker, enter PD's announce URL
(www.peerden.com:2700/announce) in the appropriate field. The
second thing is whether you want a single file or a directory. This is
a very simple option, select "single file" or "directory" depending on
what you want and click Next.

4) you will now see a single text field and a button to the right
which reads "Browse." Click this button and find the file or directory
you want to upload (the one you found in step 1). Click open and
then next.

5) Now you will see another page with a single text field. Enter the
filename you want the torrent ot have. if you leave this blank it will
be the name of the file or directory by default. click next.

6) Now you will see a page which has various options. If you want
to designate a piece size now is the time to do it. You can do so by
selecting the desired size from the drop down menu. The next
option you want to change (for uploading to PD) is that which says
"Private Torrent - Only Accept Peers From The Tracker," fill this
yes/no field (check box). Click finish and wait for your torrent to be
generated. When it is done click the exit button in the bottom right
corner.

7) Create a new thread in the appropriate section, give the thread
a relevant title (the name of the file and anything else you think is
important, the more descriptive the better) write whatever
comments you want about the file you are uploading.

8) Below the text field in a separate rectangle you will see several
options, including one with a button next to it that reads "Manage
Attached Files." Click this button.

9) A new window will appear with several fields all with Browse
buttons next to them, click the first browse button.

10) Now a file adding window will open, find your torrent, select it
and click add. Now you will see the corresponding text box will have
a string of text describing where on your HDD that the torrent file
is. If you want to add any other relevant files (eg screenshots or
a .NFO file) do similarly for them in the empty fields. Press upload
and wait for the files to be attached.

11) Once you are happy with this your click submit thread and you
will automatically be redirected to the new thread. Exit the thread
and the reenter it, going to new posts and entering from there
works stellar

12) Download the .torrent file that is attched to your post and save
it with a different name (i always just add "tracked" to the end).

13) Reenter Azureus and click the add torrent button (top left
corner, first one) click the add file button (on the right hand side),
choose the torrent file you just downloaded and click open.

14) About halfway down the add torrent window you will see a field
headed "Save Location" with a browse button next to it, click this
button and find the directory the file you have uploaded is in or the
directory one above the directory you have uploaded then press
open.

15) Now click the add button in the bottom right hand corner.
Azureus may now prompt you that some of the data to be
downloaded is already contained in the indicated save directory.
Click ok and it will begin checking the data, once this is complete
the torrent will move to the seeding pane and you have successfully
uploaded a file!!
Congratulations you've just uploaded a torrent to the Den!!

I found that my uploaded torrents wouldn't work unless I also ticked the check box

"add hashes for other networks"

on the first page.

I also found that if I checked the box

"open the torrent for seeding when done"

the torrent appeared in the seeding window pane just fine.

If you do that you are not seeding to peerden and are losing any upload credit you might accrue. You do not want to add hashes for other networks and if you open it for seeding before uploading it to the den, you will not get the passkey included in the torrent.

have you redownloaded the torrent from your post (the one with your Passkey in it) so just download it and load the new one into your client to seed
