How to Create and Post a Torrent on PeerDen
This guide contains the latest information for everybody. You first need uTorrent, Download Here You have to disable DHT in µTorrent for private tracker (peerden) preferences > Bit torrent > un tick Enable DHT Network ..........................................un tick Enable DHT for new torrents (Or just right click and disable DHT at the bottom of the client main screen) I was also informed to disable UPnP Port mapping preferences > Connection > un tick Enable UPnP Port mapping Firstly thoroughly search the forum to make sure that what you want to upload isn't already here - dupes will be deleted Creating Your Torrent 1. Create a folder called RAW TORRENTS or similar on your C drive. (Or any local drive) ![]() 2. Copy the file you want to share into its own folder within that folder and name it so it is clearly identifiable. you can compress via rar or zip if the files will reduce in size. Do not password protect it. ![]() 3. You now need to create a torrent for that file and make it private. ![]() Maketorrent2 does not allow you to make the torrent 'private' so you're best using one of the BitTorrent clients that have an integrated torrent maker, for example Azureus and uTorrent, and for this guide I'm going to assume you are using uTorrent. Just open it up and click File/Make New Torrent ![]() Click on Add File or Add Directory as appropriate (depending whether your torrent is just a single file or of a folder containing files) Navigate to the file or folder you want to make a torrent of ![]() Put announce (see below) in Torrent Properties box (put it in the Trackers section) ![]() Code:
Announce URL = http://tracker.peerden.com:2700/announce IMPORTANT... It's best not to cut'n'paste the announce url. If you do then make absolutely certain there isn't a space at the end. Tick 'Private Torrent' box![]() Click and save as... ![]() That’s the torrent created, you’ll find it next to the file/folder you want to share. ![]() L@@k here for a Video Tutorial How To Create a Torrent Video Tutorial How To Create and Post a Torrent on PeerDen - PeerDen.com Sharing Your Torrent With The Community 4. Go the the Torrent Forum that is most appropriate for your release and start a New Topic. The topic title should tell people exactly what the torrent is. Then add the required information about the torrent which, as a minimum, should always be the full name of the application or movie or whatever you're sharing, the file format, the file-size and a short description of what it is or does for the benefit of those who might not know. Check the FAQ in the forum which may ask you for additional information. 5. To upload the torrent you need to scroll down below the description you've just typed to a button marked Manage Attachemnts. Click it and then use the 'upload file from your computer' Browse button to navigate to the .torrent file you just created and click Upload. 6. Check that all the details are correct and when you're happy click Submit New Thread. Guide here How to Create a New Thread Seeding Your Torrent 6. The final step is to seed your torrent so that others can download it. You MUST now download the .torrent file that you just posted on the forum and use it to load into your client. This is because the one you download will have your Passkey embedded in it. Depending how you manage your folders you can either download the new one and overwrite the one you created or just delete the old one when you've got the new one. Now open your client (if using Azureus go to Tools/Options/Files and make sure Save To Default Directory is NOT checked). Then load the torrent you downloaded by double clicking or dragging and copying the torrent into your client (in Azureus into the bottom window). A dialogue box will then appear asking you to navigate to where the files are, which you should do as follows: If your torrent is just a single file then you should save to INSIDE the folder that contains the file you want to seed. If your torrent is of a folder then you need to save to OUTSIDE the folder because your client will be looking for a folder containing files. If you save to inside the folder it won't find what it's looking for and will start to download instead of seed. After choosing your location click Save and you will see the torrent appear in your client (in the upper Azureus window), and if you've saved to the right place it will start to check that everything is there. When it finds the file is complete it will automatically enter seeding mode (in Azureus the torrent will jump down to the bottom window and enter seeding mode). Problems If your client starts to download instead of checking for completion it means your save path is wrong. Remove the torrent from your client and reload it, making certain that you save to the right location. If your client reports "error unregistered torrent pass" it means you did not download the .torrent file from your forum post (the one with your Passkey in it) so just download it and load the new one into your client to seed from. So there you go – if you are new to BitTorrent I hope this helps you to post your first torrent ![]() THIS IS UPDATED AS NECESSARY SO KEEP CHECKING BACK

I do have a question, for an upload can I use the downloaded file from another tracker to copy to my Raw Files and then use that for the upload following your instructions? That is, the rar files I downloaded from another tracker to start the indicated steps to upload?

Yes, you most certainly can. Lots of people do that.
It's why so many torrents on different sites are the same size. PS:- it's best to add a small Read Me type file to make sure it's ever so slightly different from the original. (and don't include any adverts from the site you got it from - especially not if they are the really bad sort that re-direct your browser when you click on them)

Why can't I download? - "leeching forbidden you are only allowed to seed" If you have downloaded over 2GB and your ratio has dropped below 0.50 you will not be able to download. Solutions 1) Leave a completed torrent in your client until you have uploaded enough data to bring your ratio up to 0.75 2) Upload a torrent of your own and seed until your ratio is 0.75 or higher. 3) Donate to the site and gain Premium membership Please let me know if my torrent or links are dead Last edited by fynstee : 08-18-2008 at 04:29 PM.

Also have a look at the faq on uploading rules. PeerDen.com - Torrents, DDLs & More! - FAQ: PeerDen FAQ Remember you need to seed for a minimum of 48 hrs to let others finish downloading from you. I personally recomend seeding for a week as there may be people who don't come here regularly and might see your torrent after a few days. Sagar

your guide doesn't work for me. I use utorrent and have problems starting to seed. I downloaded my own .torrent file out of my posting (meantime the posting is deleted) and utorrent only says "queued". It doesn't matter where I choose to save the file / directory.

ubojam, in uTorrent click Options> Preferences> Queueing
Then change the maximum number of torrents that you want to seed. Make it bigger that it currently is. ![]() There is also the option to right-click on the torrent in question and to select Force Start to make it seed.

Your problem is that your file is trying to download rather than seed which means that your utorrent save path is incorrect.
You need to make sure that thr destination path is exactly the same as where the file is on your computer (ie. C:\Documents and Settings\****\My Documents\uploads) then it will check 100% and begin to seed (you can change the destination path in the add torrent box that pops up when you start utorrent you will see a box to type in with a button with ... on, press that anhd browse for your file). Either that OR move the file that you are trying to upload into your default download directory (where all of your downloads go to, (ie. C:\Documents and Settings\****\My Documents\Downloads)) then it will check 100% and start to seed without the need to change anything in utorrent when you start your torrent from your post. Hope this helps ![]()
