Default Guide to HJSplit

Alright I decided to create a page for those who doesn’t know how to use HJSplit.

First of all you have to download all DDL links from Premium Member Zone on PeerDen. In my case I decided to download V The Original Mini Series Disk 5 DVDRip.

As you can see there’s a total of 28 files. Download them all from Rapidshare and save them all in the same directory. (NOTE: It is important to have all those files in the same directory)

When you’re done with downloading, get the program HJSplit.

Links are below.

Code:
http://www.freebyte.net/download/hjsplit.zip
or
"Download as a free user"
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/100738199/hjsplit.rar
Unzip it and open the executable file hjsplit.

Click on Join.

Click on Input File and choose the file with the extension *.001 (In my case it is V5.avi.001).

And click on the start button. The program will now join all the files you have downloaded. Wait until it’s done. You will see a progress. (NOTE: Remember to have enough free space on your hard disc)

When it’s done, you should find your video file in the same directory.

If you are new to HJSplit I hope this helps you

THIS IS UPDATED AS NECESSARY SO KEEP CHECKING BACK

I've never used the proper Linux version of HJsplit, but like in Jerry's post it's available in some form for most any platform.

I've got the Windows version installed and running in wine with no prob's. Plus a compatible linux program called lxsplit (+GUI):-

I've also got the java version of the proper HJsplit:-

It's a handy prog to have

If you have downloaded over 2GB and your ratio has dropped below 0.50 you will not be able to download.

Solutions

1) Leave a completed torrent in your client until you have uploaded enough data to bring your ratio up to 0.75
2) Upload a torrent of your own and seed until your ratio is 0.75 or higher.
3) Donate to the site and gain Premium membership

Please let me know if my torrent or links are dead

When it’s done, you should find your video file in the same directory.
I think many people (like myself) will always want the joined file to be in a different directory to the downloaded parts.
The download directory will likely be defined in the download manager's settings as a standard folder to temporarily store all downloaded files but not to "permanently" store anything.

Moving it out to a different HD after the join might take another 10 mins... which is avoided by explicitly defining the output folder.

So I think its worthwhile to demonstrate the setting of the output file as an option.

The guides put up on PD are here for a general explanation of how to operate a program. I think once someone is familiar with the use of it, they can confidently change options to suit their own needs.

Claret is a very busy fellow. If you think that changing the output location is important, feel free to expound on that.
