BitComet is the absolute worst client around, banned from most sites (soon to be from this one as well). There are really only 2 for Windows that are superior and Mac has an extra one. uTorrent is popular and uses less resources, Azureus is powerful and has many more features but is a resource utilizer. I use both on different machines, majority lying on Azureus but I have about 80 seeded on uTorrent. I can't complain about either of them. I understand Azureus for Mac is good as well.

Most people on this site use uTorrent. It's a very easy to use program and has loads of guides available and an extensive support forum on the uTorrent homepage's.

Why can't I download? - "leeching forbidden you are only allowed to seed" If you have downloaded over 2GB and your ratio has dropped below 0.50 you will not be able to download. Solutions 1) Leave a completed torrent in your client until you have uploaded enough data to bring your ratio up to 0.75 2) Upload a torrent of your own and seed until your ratio is 0.75 or higher. 3) Donate to the site and gain Premium membership Please let me know if my torrent or links are dead

I'd have to say utorrent too, I currently have 58 files seeding and not had any problems and as fynstee said there are guides on here for it if you get stuck.

adendum:
uTorrent gets fickle with the files once you seed over 100, that's primarily my reasoning for sticking with Azureus; 430+ and no stalls. uTorrent kills me with that number while Azureus hardly seems to flinch. Notwithstanding, if you aren't seeding an enormous amount of torrents, uTorrent is good for beginners and peers who don't want the hassle of tweaking every little facet of their sharing experience.

I use utorrent
tried Azureus and did not like it. you can get UT here µTorrent - The Lightweight and Efficient BitTorrent Clientas fyn says there are plenty of guides here to set it up, but there is nothing really to setup apart from disabling DHT and you might have to port forward General Guides

I didn't realize that Jerry - Looks like I'll have to learn to use Azureus too if I keep on the way I'm going.

Here are some basic settings to get you started:-
Make uTorrent your default client:- Click Options> Preferences> General and at the bottom of the window click the Associate with .torrent files button. Now decide where to put your downloads:- Create a folder on your C: drive called Torrents Now set-up uTorrent so it just uses that one Torrents folder by copying the boxes ticked below:- Click thumbnail below for screenshot Now in the future uTorrent will download all new torrents to that folder. I think that's fairly important because it's nice to know where your stuff is ![]() I'll make a couple of screenshots for other setting in a moment ![]()

Set a listening port:-
Click Options> Preferences> Connection Now set your Listening Port to something quite big. A lot of ISP's throttle the bandwidth on common P2P ports. Then uncheck the box that says Randomise port each time uTorrent starts. We don't want a random port. Click thumbnail below for screenshot ![]() Also in this window is the chance to limit your upload & download speed. I get my bandwidth capped between 6pm and midnight. So I've just lowered my upload to 10kB/s. At other times I set it to 25kB/s. Both these speeds are below my maximum upload at those times. Approx 75% of my actual upload speed. This is to stop my seeding choking my internet connection. Whatever your max upload speed is, set uTorrent up to use at least a few kB/s less.
