Default uTorrent 1800 & Connecting to it... - 08-30-2008, 07:34 AM

New uTorrent & Connecting to it...

anybody else find that it takes quite a while longer than normal to begin downloading from users of the uTorrent v.1800 ?

Usually if I try to download someone's torrent, or even just a part of it to see if it's working, I connect straight away. Or near enough. But lately it's been taking me ages to connect to some users & that they use uTorrent 1800 seems to be a common factor. It happened most recently when I tried to help seed a torrent to tomsapples and now when trying to download one from Noodle.

It's something I'd noticed a couple of times prior to those two examples, but I can't think of who or what torrent in those cases. I wasn't paying attention & thought it was maybe a one off, or something slow at my end. But now I'm thinking maybe it's uTorrent 1800.

PS. I like uTorrent, so I'm not knocking that - I still use uTorrent 1.6.1 myself

Why can't I download? - "leeching forbidden you are only allowed to seed"

If you have downloaded over 2GB and your ratio has dropped below 0.50 you will not be able to download.

Solutions

1) Leave a completed torrent in your client until you have uploaded enough data to bring your ratio up to 0.75
2) Upload a torrent of your own and seed until your ratio is 0.75 or higher.
3) Donate to the site and gain Premium membership

Please let me know if my torrent or links are dead

There are a few probs with the new uTorrent 1.8 that I have found after using uTorrent 1.77 which worked just great. For instance, the ability to update a single tracker is no longer available (you can update a multiple of ? (8-10 ?) amount of trackers at one time though) and the layout has changed quite a bit. I will be switching back asap as I really don't care for this new version and should not have installed over the 1.77 but did like a big dumb ass. kick me in the butt

Thanks for that info Barfdog.

I don't think you need a kick up the butt though. It's normal to update to a newer version of software.
