Default Converting Help

Well whenever I rip a dvd I don't rip it in the raw vob format...I like putting it in Xvid format. So I use Roxio Easy Media Creator 10 and use anydvd to get the protection off...so basically I have used this on two significant films and both have a huge sound delay...it is about 1.5 seconds out of sync. So I would like to know if there is something I can do to fix this or if it is just the program and if there is a better one out there that will not do this.
Thank you
